When R.A.I.D. Corps, Inc. is hired by a school administration, it is up to the administration how to proceed when contraband is found. Detention and suspension are common consequences enforced by schools before involving law enforcement, who is required to press charges.

Detection can occur in parking lots or with backpacks left in a classroom while the students are occupied elsewhere. Dogs can be brought in to work and then exit without encountering students. 

Many schools are tobacco free in addition to being drug free. Even students who are legally of age to purchase tobacco may not be permitted to bring it onto school grounds. Our detector dogs will alert on tobacco.

Prescription drugs can also be distributed to peers who do not own them and lead to dangerous situations.

Did you know that many prescription pain killers are designed to fill the first two receptors in our brains, but when crushed and snorted spill over to the third receptor, causing euphoria? The unintended consequence of these drugs being snorted into the bloodstream rather than passing through the stomach when ingested is that breathing slows and your brain can forget to tell your body to take a breath. Cardiac arrest occurs in this situation and can be fatal.

R.A.I.D. Corps, Inc. offers in-classroom demonstrations with detector and service dogs.

Students are taught about the different types of working dogs and how to respect them so that they are not distracted from their important duties.

Dogs are brought into the classroom and perform demonstrations like turning light switches on and off and bringing items to their handler. Handlers demonstrate a search by hiding cotton balls with drug residue around the room and allowing detector dogs to find them and alert.
